THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
We remember HIM by his names and each name is a concept unto itself.
Kalima is the foundation of Islamic faith yet this pillar of Islam has been regulate to simpleutterance of a sentence i.e There is no god but Allah and Muhammad s.a.w is His prophet.
When we recite Kalima we take an oath that Allah alone is true God and enter into a covenant with Him to take Him only as our Lord.
In Islam(at least) 99 attributes (commonly referred to as "Names of Allah) are ascribed toGod that describe His Exalted nature so when we recite kalima it means we accept Allah with all His attributes as our Lord.Hence an understanding of the attributes is of great importance as they describe to us what our responsibilitie s are after entering into a covenant with Allah.The purpose of these Names and Attributes is not to glorify Allah by repeating them on a rosary,for Allah is far above such needs.hen we recite the Kalima and take Allah as our God we admit that He is Ar-Razzaaq(The Provider and The Sustainer) who promises the best Rizq if we work honestly.So why should a True Muslim pay a bribe to obtain a job or a livelihood?why should he demand a bribe to meet his expenditures?A person who demands a bribeacts as if he alone can BESTOW a favor upon that person and in doing so his arrogance reaches to the limit of acting as a false god as ALLAH alone is Al-Wahhaab(The Bestower) who bestows every favor without conditions or limits.Similarl y offering a bribe is analogousto offering prayers to false gods in order to seek their unjustified favors.if we had workedhonestly and then counted on Allah to send us the best Rizq.
We take oath that Allah is Ar-Rahmaan(The compassionate) who wills mercy and good for all creation at all times.He is Ar-Raheem(The Most Merciful).He is Al-Barr(The Source of All Goodness) the perfect .so why should bad emanate from ourcharacter when as per Islamic theology we are supposed to be His vicegerent?why should we be a source of discomfort and oppression to others?why we misuse our position,in government offices or otherwise,to harm others rather than being a source of comfort to them and helping them in the moment of need?
We admit that He is Al-Aleem(The All-knowing) and He is Ar-Raqeeb(The watchful)who keeps a watch over everything and scrutinizes every detail in the existence of all creation.so why commit sins under veil or neglect ones duties thinking no one is watching? Why fool people by external magnificence and religion rhetoric and ritualism while committing hidden sins?He is Al-Ghaffaar(The Forgiver) who accepts repentance and Forgives our sins.So if by mistake a wrong is committed why not bow down in repentance and pledge never to commit it again?By merely seeking forgiveness by our tongue while persisting in our wrongdoings we actually refuse to acceptAllah as Al-Hakeem(The Wise) as His wisdom very well comprehends our real motives and intentions.Henc e religious hypocrisy,that we have got so accustomed to,has no place in Islam.
He is As-Sami'(The All-Hearing) who hears everything - that which comes from the lips,passes through the minds,is felt by the hearts,the rustling of the leaves in the wind,the footsteps of ants and the atoms moving through the void.So why to use deafening loudspeakers in the mosque to make our prayers heard by Him?
We admit that He is Al-Aliyy(The Highest),higher than the whole of the created universe.So why bow before a corrupt clerk?why lavish false praise to please corruptpoliticians and bureaucrats when He alone is Al-Hameed(The Most praiseworthy)?w hy seek their favors by stooping before them when Allah alone is As-samad(The Eeternally Besought)?
Even from the minutest of creations no one can take away sustenance He has destined because He is Al-Muhaymin (The Protector andThe Guardian) and He is Al-Muqeet(The sustainer).
He is Al-Muqtadir(The Most Powerful) and Al -Qawiyy(The Most strong).why not to work sincerely to build one's country by concentrating on proper education.
He is Al-Majeed(The Most Glorious)He is majestic in the whole of His creation.
He is Al-Mumeet(The Giver of Death)It means accepting that every living creature has to taste death.
IF WE SERIOUSLY TRY TO UNDERSTAND THIS BASIC FUNDAMENTAL OF FAITH WE WILL REALIZE THAT IT NOT DESCRIBES TO US THE MAGNANIMITY OF GOD BUT ALSO DEFINES WHAT CHARACTER OF A TRUE MUSLIM OUGHT TO BE LIKE.IF WE WISH TRUE SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN THIS WORLD AND THE HEREAFTER,WE MUST SINCERELY LOOK FOR THESE ATTRIBUTES SO THAT THEY GOVERN EVERY ACT OF OURS IN OUR LIFE.
GREATER TREHGAM
{I LOVE ALLAH}
